1) Less Thans One Week Left to Petition - Please Help!

3) Help Get Rosa Clemente on The Daily Show and/or The Colbert Report!!
**************************
LESS THAN ONE WEEK LEFT TO PETITION TO GET CYNTHIA MCKINNEY AND ROSA CLEMENTE ON THE BALLOT IN NEW YORK!!!
PLEASE HELP US PETITION TO GET THE 30,000 SIGNATURES NEEDED!!
If you have been petitioning already GREAT!!! Keep it up!. If you have not yet petitioned but want to, please contact the NY State petition coordinator, Michael O’Neil at 917 825-3562 or at petition@gpny.org to get information on how and where to petition.
There’s been great progress petitioning at events like Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park and at The McCarren Park Pool Concerts in Williamsburg. Folks stand on line for the shows and are receptive to signing.
This Sunday 8/10, there will be several Greens gathering signatures at the McCarren Park pool concert beginning at 12:30. If you are new to petitioning, this is a great opportunity to have veteran petitioners help you learn the ropes. We will have extra materials. All you need to do is SHOW UP AND HELP! An hour or two is extremely useful. Please call Michael for more info and directions.
Other great places to petition are movie lines, Union Square, Farmers Markets…..and anywhere there is a crowd.
Please let Michael O’Neil know how many signatures you have so far and get all petitions turned in as soon as possible for cleaning (see info below).
Again, contact Michael with any and all questions at 917 825-3562 or at petition@gpny.org

PETITION CLEANING AND PREPARATION
MONDAY 8/11 and TUESDAY 8/12
If you haven’t had time to petition but would still like to help the cause, please come Mon 8/11 and Tues 8/12 evenings to help us “clean” and prepare the petitions to be bound and turned in to the board of elections in Albany. This process involves checking all petitions to make sure they are filled out correctly and looking up the congressional districts etc.
Also, if you have signed petitions that need to be turned in, you can drop them off at this time as well.
WHEN: Mon 8/11 at 6pm and Tues 8/12 at 8pm (if you’re coming late call Ann at 347-226-1195) .
WHERE: Dani’s and Jame’s house at 269 12th street between 4th and 5th Aves. (Take F train to 4th Avenue stop, then walk south) Ring bottom bell (718) 788- 2260.
WHAT TO BRING: your petitions (if you have been petitioning) and the same color pen you used for people to sign. If you have not been petitioning and don’t have petitions, your help is still very much needed.
This is an important process that has to be done well in advance of the final date of petitioning in order for the petitions to be properly prepared before tuning them in to Albany. Any help is appreciated!

McCarren Park Pool

Rain or Shine
This is the richest opportunity for petitioning in Brooklyn on a Sunday, and it needs to be a priority.
The McCarren Park Concerts are free, and people line up hours in advance. The line is at least
a half-mile long. The concert technically starts at 2pm, but the line is so long it isn’t fully processed well into the
3 o’clock hour. I never even saw the end of the line.
There’s a lot of young, open-minded registered voters lined up with nothing to do for 4 hours.
It’s like the Shakespeare in the Park line multiplied by 100. They’re every Sunday, if we hit the line with a team of 10 people at 11am we could get close to 1000 signatures in an afternoon.
I need Greens to commit to petitioning this line, this Sunday. If you can’t be there
from 11am-3pm that’s ok, just tell me when you can show up. Here’s a link for directions to
the Pool: http://www.mccarrenpark.com/print.html

When: Friday, July 18th, 7PM – 8PM
Cynthia McKinney, the 6-term Congresswoman from Georgia, is now the Green Party nominee for President of the United States. This is an unprecedented opportunity for progressives to support a Black woman candidate for President, and to help build a truly multi-racial coalition for social and economic justice. In order to place McKinney on the New York ballot in November, supporters must gather 30,000 petition signatures before August 17.
McKinney will speak at 7:15 and then take questions.
Evergreen Chou, a Green Party candidate for Congress, will also speak. Chou became involved in the Green Party in 1996, is a co-founder of the Flushing Greens, and is running for US House or Representatives in District 5. Chou has run campaigns in New York state in 2002 and 2004,
advocating social justice and environmental issues.
After the press conference, members of the New York City Green Party and New York Power to the People Committee (McKinney supporters) will report back from the national Green Party convention in Chicago, held on July 10-13, and prepare volunteers for petitioning all over New York City.

1) PLAN CHANGE FOR MONDAY 7/14 Park Slope Greens Meeting -
**************************
IMPORTANT IMPORTANT!!!
PLAN CHANGE FOR PARK SLOPE GREENS MEETING
MONDAY JULY 14TH MEETING - 7PM
Dear Members,
We apologize for this late notice, but wanted to let you know that there has been a change of plan for our July 14th meeting.
Originally we had planned to hold our meeting at the Methodist church (as usual) where we would have had reports from the delegates who had just returned from the Green Party National convention in Chicago.
However, due to our excitement about the nomination of Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente as the Green Party presidential and vise Presidential candidates, we want to waste no time in getting the 30,000 signatures needed to get them on the ballot in New York!!
So, on Monday evening instead of sitting and talking, we will start moving our feet and go out petitioning together as a group. Please come and join us!! We will meet in front of the Methodist church (corner of 6th Avenue and 8th street) at 7pm. We will have petitions for those of you who don’t have them and we can give you a quick training on how to petition if you don’t yet know how.
If you want to join us but will arrive later than 7pm, please call (347) 218-3107 or (917) 886-4538 to find out where we are. We will of course also leave a note on the gate of the church for those who do not get this message in time.
If you cannot join us to petition on Monday evening but would like to petition between now and August 10th, to help us get Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente on the ballot, please contact us at (718) 788-2260 and we will certainly pair you with experienced petitioners.
LETS GET CYNTHIA MCKINNEY AND ROSA CLEMENTE ON THE BALLOT!!!

Come Hear First Hand Reports From the Green Party of
The United States Convention and Who the Presidential and VP
Candidates are!!!
**************************
PARK SLOPE GREENS MEETING
MONDAY JULY 14TH MEETING - 7PM
This will be a very exciting meeting. We will have first hand reports from our Park Slope delegates who attended the Green Party National Convention in Chicago (taking place 7/11 - 7/13). They will report on all of the dynamics of the convention, but most importantly, who was selected as the GP presidential and vice presidential candidates and all of the plans for the campaign ahead!
Come prepared with questions and ideas. We will also have petitions and instruction packets for those who were unable to attend a petition training, but who would like to help the GP of NY State gather the needed 15,000 (minimum) signatures to get our Green presidential and vise Presidential candidates on the ballot.
Park Slope Greens meetings take place on the second Monday of each month at the Park Slope Methodist Church, corner of 8th Street and 6th avenue (basement/garden entrance). Please note: There will be no PSG meeting in August.
All are welcome! Hope to see you there!
